Remind Me You’re Here

February 19, 2020—

Through difficulty and distress, we struggle to see why God would have possibly led us along the path we’re on. Today’s song by Jason Gray acknowledges our confusion when God leads us into adversity, and simply asks that He “Remind Me You’re Here.”

But I’ll trade every question

Just to lay down and rest in Your heart

And I’ll reach for Your hand

Though You led me here into the dark

Today, let us put our trust in God and His plan—knowing that whatever misfortune or darkness we encounter, He stands strong beside us.

Thanks for listening today.

Here are the lyrics in full:

None of my pain
Has ever caught You by surprise
Still it's hard to trust You
When I'm lost in the wondering why
But I'll trade every question
Just to lay down and rest in Your heart
And I'll reach for Your hand
Though You led me here into the dark

And I won't ask You for reasons
'Cause a reason can't wipe away tears
No, I don't need all the answers
Just be here beside me
Father, remind me You're here, here

If it's random or providence
Neither are a comfort to me
Are You cruel if You planned it
Or weak if You allowed it to be?
Half of me is still believing
The other half is angry and confused
Oh, but all of me is desperate
And longing to be held by You

So I won't ask You for reasons
'Cause a reason can't wipe away tears
No, I don't need all the answers
Just be here beside me
Father, remind me You're here, here

Get me out of my mind
And into Your arms
Where hope comes alive
And fear falls apart

I won't ask You for reasons
'Cause a reason can't wipe away tears
No, I don't need all the answers
Just be here beside me
Come be here beside me
And I won't ask You for reasons
'Cause a reason can't wipe away tears
No, I don't need all the answers
Just be here beside me
Father, remind me You're here, here
I just need to know You're here, here
I just need to know that You're here

Scars

February 18, 2020—

We carry with us the scars and suffering of our past, reminders of who we were, and who we become. Today’s song by I AM THEY reminds us that these wounds and painful memories bring us closer to Jesus, who knows all our pain: “Scars.”

I’m thankful for Your scars

‘Cause without them I wouldn’t know Your heart

And with my life I’ll tell of who You are

So forever I am thankful for the scars

Today, let us pray for the grace to see through our pain as we grow closer to Jesus—and let us give thanks for the hope and healing He brings.

Thanks for listening today.

Here are the lyrics in full:

Waking up to a new sunrise
Looking back from the other side
I can see now with open eyes
Darkest water and deepest pain
I wouldn't trade it for anything
'Cause my brokenness brought me to You
And these wounds are a story You'll use

So I'm thankful for the scars
'Cause without them I wouldn't know Your heart
And I know they'll always tell of who You are
So forever I am thankful for the scars

Now I'm standing in confidence
With the strength of Your faithfulness
And I'm not who I was before
No, I don't have to fear anymore

So I'm thankful for the scars
'Cause without them I wouldn't know Your heart
And I know they'll always tell of who You are
So forever I am thankful for the scars

I can see, I can see
How You delivered me
In Your hands, in Your feet
I found my victory
I can see, I can see
How You delivered me
In Your hands, in Your feet
I found my victory

I'm thankful for Your scars
'Cause without them I wouldn't know Your heart
And with my life I'll tell of who You are
So forever I am thankful...

I'm thankful for the scars
'Cause without them I wouldn't know Your heart
And I know they'll always tell of who You are
So forever I am thankful for the scars
So forever I am thankful for the scars

All In

February 17, 2020—

Sometimes our progress in faith moves in fits and starts, as distractions in our lives take precedence, and we grow comfortable where we are. Today’s song of the day by Matthew West, “All In,” challenges us to commit fully to our mission on this earth and work passionately for the world to come.

I believe that one day I will see Your Kingdom come

And I want to hear You say,

“Welcome home my child, well done”

So I step to the edge and I take a deep breath

I’m not turning back around

‘Cause there’s no turning back now

Today, let us pray for the faith and courage to live for Christ alone—and the strength to persist in His name until we see Him in Heaven.

Thanks for listening today.

Here are the lyrics in full:

My feet are frozen on this middle ground
The water's warm here but the fire's gone out
I played it safe for so long the passion left
Turns out safe is just another word for regret
So I step to the edge and I take a deep breath
We're all dying to live but we're all scared to death
And this is the part where my head tells my heart
We should turn back around
But there's no turning back now

I'm going all in
Headfirst into the deep end
I hear You calling
And this time the fear won't win
I'm going, I'm going
All in
I'm all in, I'm all in
All in
I'm all in, I'm all in

I believe that one day I will see Your Kingdom come
And I want to hear You say,
"Welcome home my child, well done"
So I step to the edge and I take a deep breath
I'm not turning back around
'Cause there's no turning back now

I'm going all in
Headfirst into the deep end
I hear You calling
And this time the fear won't win
I'm going, I'm going
All in
I'm all in, I'm all in
All in
I'm all in, I'm going
All in
I'm all in, I'm all in
All in
I'm all in, I'm all in

All to You Jesus I freely give
As long as there's breath in these lungs I will live
With reckless abandon
My heart in Your hands
I surrender it all
I'm going, I'm going all in

I'm going all in
Headfirst into the deep end
I hear You calling
And this time the fear won't win
I'm going, I'm going
All in
I'm all in, I'm all in
All in
I'm all in, I'm going
All in
I'm all in, I'm all in
All in
I'm all in, I'm all in

I believe that one day I will see Your Kingdom come
And I want to hear You say,
"Welcome home my child, well done"

Well Done, Good and Faithful

February 16, 2020—

Though we frequently focus on Jesus’s resurrection and triumph over death, more rarely do we contemplate the pain and sorrow of His crucifixion and death. Today’s song by Andrew Peterson is an appropriate reflection on Jesus’s darkest moments on the cross, and gives a new look at the depths of His sacrifice: “Well Done, Good and Faithful.”

Why, oh why, my God?

For the joy set before Him, He endured

And is seated at the right hand of the Father

Well done, good and faithful, well done

Today, let us pray for silence and solemnity to contemplate Jesus’s death—and for the comfort of our infinitely understanding God in the trials of our own lives.

Thanks for listening today.

Here are the lyrics in full:

"Why has my God my soul forsook
Nor will a smile afford"
Thus David once in anguish spoke
And thus our dying Lord
Oh, it's Your chief delight to dwell
Among Your praising saints
And yet You hear us groan as well
And pity our complaints
Our fathers trusted in Your name
And great deliverance found
But He's a worm despised of men
And trod into the ground
Men shake their heads and pass Him by
And laugh His soul to scorn
In vain He trusts in God they cry
Neglected and forlorn
But You are He who formed His flesh
By Your almighty word
And since He hung upon the breast
His hope was in the Lord
Why would His Father hide His face
When foes stand threatening 'round
In His dark hour of deep distress
And not a helper found

Why, oh why, my God?
Why, oh why, my God?
For the joy set before Him, He endured
And is seated at the right hand of the Father
Well done, good and faithful, well done
Well done, good and faithful One

Behold Your dear One left among the cruel and the proud
As mighty bulls so fierce and strong
As lions roaring loud
For mirth and hell and sorrows meet
To multiply the pain
They nail His hands
They pierce His feet
And mock Him yet again
Yet if Your sovereign hand let loose
The rage of earth and hell
Why would my heavenly Father bruise
The Son He loved so well
He prayed in dark Gethsemane
"Withhold this bitter cup"
But He resigned His will to thee
And drank the sorrows up
Our Savior cried with David's grief,
"In groans I waste My breath
Thy hand has brought Me down beneath
The bitter dust of death"
And then He gave His spirit up
To trust it in Your hand
His dying flesh reposed in hope
To rise at Your command

Why, oh why, my God?
Why, oh why, my God?
For the joy set before Him, He endured
And is seated at the right hand of the Father
Well done, good and faithful, well done
Well done, good and faithful, well done
Well done, good and faithful One

Wherever I Go

February 15, 2020—

Wherever we journey in life, God is our constant companion, seeking only to draw us closer to Him and the path He has designed. Today’s song by Dan Bremnes emphasizes that God is always with us: “Wherever I Go.”

You hold all the pieces together

You bring me strength in the desert

Oh, You defend my soul

You defend my soul

No height, no depth, no grave

Nothing on earth could keep You away

Today, let us pray to feel God’s presence at our side—to draw strength from Him, and trust in Him always.

Thanks for listening today.

Here are the lyrics in full:

Well, I sweat in the heat of the battle
And I fought through the dust and the shadows
Oh, You never left my side
Never left my side, no
And I stood at the top of the world
I swam through the depths of my soul
No matter what I find
No matter what I find, oh
Drought or famine
High and low

Wherever I go
Oh, You're gonna find me there
Wherever I go
Oh, You're right beside me there
In the rising flame
Even in the pouring rain
Even in the flood, I'm safe
Oh, oh, oh, oh
'Cause You go wherever I go
Wherever I go

You hold all the pieces together
You bring me strength in the desert
Oh, You defend my soul
You defend my soul
No height, no depth, no grave
Nothing on earth could keep You away
Oh, You're my only hope
You're my only hope
Life in death
This truth I know

Wherever I go
Oh, You're gonna find me there
Wherever I go
Oh, You're right beside me there
In the rising flame
Even in the pouring rain
Even in the flood, I'm safe
Oh, oh, oh, oh
'Cause You go wherever I go

You go wherever I go

Wherever I go
Oh, You're gonna find me there
Wherever I go
Oh, You're right beside me there
In the rising flame
Even in the pouring rain
Even in the flood, I'm safe
Oh, oh, oh, oh
'Cause You go wherever I go
Wherever I go
Wherever I go

Jesus In Disguise

February 14, 2020—

Rarely does God speak to us loudly, clearly, or directly. Today’s song by Brandon Heath reminds us of the quiet moments when we truly encounter “Jesus In Disguise.”

Brought to your knees

But you never prayed

Jesus in disguise

Jehovah passing by

The burden of a tear

Hanging in your eye

Today, let us pray for the attention and wisdom to notice God’s signs spread throughout our lives—and the strength and courage to respond.

Thanks for listening today.

Here are the lyrics in full:

Ever get something in your head
It's nothing you heard
Or something you read
Ever had a cut but you never saw a blade
Brought to your knees
But you never prayed

Jesus in disguise
Jehovah passing by
The burden of a tear
Hanging in your eye
Jesus in disguise
A scar across the sky
You were looking for a king
You would never recognize
Jesus in disguise

Ever feel like you've been somewhere before
You hold the key
You know which door
Speak the word your lips have never known
Because your heart
Told you so

Jesus in disguise
Jehovah passing by
The burden of a tear
Hanging in your eye
Jesus in disguise
A scar across the sky
You were looking for a king
You would never recognize
Jesus in disguise

So open my eyes wide as I can
Blind as I am
Blind as I am
Open my eyes wide as I can
Blind as I am
Blind as I am

Jesus in disguise
Jesus in disguise
Jesus in disguise
(So open my eyes wide as I can
Blind as I am
Blind as I am)
Jesus in disguise
(Open my eyes wide as I can
Blind as I am
Blind as I am)

Deliverance

February 13, 2020—

Today’s song expresses the joyous truth that we are all sons and daughters of God, made to bring Him into the world around us: “Deliverance” by Strahan.

Your love is a flood

And I swim deep when the tide is up

Oh, would You flood me too?

Saltwater in my blood

Has made me taste sweet to the world

Oh, and You taste sweet too

Today, let us ask for the grace to see God’s reflection in us—and the openness to see Him reflected in each person we meet.

Thanks for listening today.

Here are the lyrics in full:

Your love is a flood
And I swim deep when the tide is up
Oh, would You flood me too?
Saltwater in my blood
Has made me taste sweet to the world
Oh, and You taste sweet too

This is my deliverance
Hands held high as You deliver it
Oh, You have made me a child of God
My feet on the ground my heart in heaven
I am bread made without the leaven
Oh, You have made me a child of God

Well I lay in the sand
Sweet forgiveness in my hand
Oh, as a gift from You
Your water floods my brain
This gray cranium won't be the same
No, where I've been won't do

This is my deliverance
Hands held high as You deliver it
Oh, You have made me a child of God
My feet on the ground my heart in heaven
I am bread made without the leaven
Oh, You have made me a child of God
Whoa, You have made me a child of God
Whoa, You have made me a child of God

And I won't go
'Til I know
You have sown
All You have in me

This is my deliverance
Hands held high as You deliver it
Oh, You have made me a child of God
My feet on the ground my heart in heaven
I am bread made without the leaven
Oh, You have made me a child of God
Whoa, You have made me a child of God
Whoa, You have made me a child of God

Whoa, You have made me a child of God

This Is Now

February 12, 2020—

As we live our lives from day to day, the strength and conviction of our faith can wax and wane against our will. Today’s song by Casting Crowns, “This Is Now,” follows the apostle Peter’s crisis of faith, and the call to return that Jesus extends to each one of us.

Just when I thought my sin had closed the door

I see my Savior standing on the shore

With arms wide open

Just like the first time You called my name

You said that was then, and this is now

Today, let us pray for God’s eternal grace upon us—to protect us when we struggle, and bring us safely home to Him.

Thanks for listening today.

Here are the lyrics in full:

Standing at the water's edge
I dropped my dreams when I dropped my nets
No hesitation, no regrets
I followed You but that was then
And this is now
You washed my feet and You changed my name
I swore I'd never be the same
But just like the tides I guess people change
'Cause that was then
And this is now

I wish I could go back but I don't know how
I remember when I stood my ground
I swore I'd never let You down
I want to be that man again
But that was then
And this is now

I watched the blind man lift his head
And look his Savior in the eyes
I heard a dead man take a breath
Dropped to my knees as I watched him rise
And I felt the sea beneath my feet
As I stepped out on the angry waves
But You saw the storm raging within
You reached out and calmed me then
But this is now

I wish I could go back but I don't know how
I remember when I stood my ground
I swore I'd never let You down
I want to be that man again
But that was then
And this is now

Just when I thought my sin had closed the door
I see my Savior standing on the shore
With arms wide open
Just like the first time
You called my name
You said that was then
And this is now

My child I bore your cross, I wore your crown
When you couldn't come to Me My love came down
So take My hand
I'll lead you out
'Cause that was then
And this is now
My child I bore your cross, I wore your crown
You couldn't come to Me so My love came down
Take My hand I'll lead you out
You'll never be that man again
'Cause that was then
And this is now

FREEDOM

February 11, 2020—

Today’s song “FREEDOM,” by Joe Melendrez, reminds us that it is only with God’s gift of free will that we can meaningfully follow Him and gain all that is beyond this life.

Saved and set free, the world can mislead

So never give up, have hope and believe

We are created through purpose and prayer

The light is upon us

Lord, we are staying in Your freedom

Today, let us pray that God breaks our chains of slavery to the world we inhabit, so that we can freely follow Him wherever He leads—and someday join Him in His Kingdom.

Thanks for listening today.

Here are the lyrics in full:

I embrace all my mistakes
I grow from the mess I made
There is healing when I break
I feel Your Spirit in this place
Lord, You are the reason
Divine in design
You have given me freedom
Now I can fly
Like a child I'm believing
Yeah, I'm alive
I rejoice and repeat it
God, You have given me...

Freedom, You're everything I need
Freedom, in You I am complete
Freedom, You're everything I need
Freedom, in You I am complete

I can't do it on my own
Through Your blood I've been reborn
There is power in this song
There is grace in You alone
Saved and set free
The world can mislead
So never give up
Have hope and believe
We are created
Through purpose and prayer
The light is upon us
Lord, we are staying in Your...

Freedom, You're everything I need
Freedom, in You I am complete
Freedom, You're everything I need
Freedom, in You I am complete

Lord, I receive Your grace, yeah
You set me free
Lord, I receive Your grace, yeah
You set me free
Lord, I receive Your grace, yeah
You set me free
Lord, I receive Your grace, yeah
You set me free
Set me free
Lord, I receive Your grace, yeah
You set me free
Lord, I receive Your grace, yeah
You set me free
You set me free

Freedom, You're everything I need
Freedom, in You I am complete
Freedom, You're everything I need
Freedom, in You I am complete

Still Alive

February 10, 2020—

When we do not contemplate the literal truth of the Gospel, we begin to lose touch with our deep spiritual roots. Today’s song by Jeremy Camp expresses the undeniable foundation of our faith and the source of our hope and strength—Jesus is “Still Alive.”

In me in the beat of my heart

In the light in all of the dark

All my hope will never die

‘Cause you’re still alive

Today, let us pray for the strength to persevere in all things—with Jesus’s death and resurrection, we have absolutely nothing to fear.

Thanks for listening today.

Here are the lyrics in full:

I don't wanna waste just another day
Tell me where I should go and there I will go
I don't wanna miss 'cause I'm too afraid
Of what I don't know, oh I don't
Even in the desert
I'm scared and I'm tired and I'm feeling alone
'Cause I don't wanna wait just another day
Tell me where I should go and there I will

I'm wide awake
I hear You calling my name
After all the things I've been through
Every scar and every bruise
You remind me every time
You're still alive
You're still alive
In me in the beat of my heart
In the light in all of the dark
All my hope will never die
'Cause you're still alive
You're still alive
You're still alive
You're still alive
You're still alive
You're still alive
In me

I just want to face what I tend to fear
What I can't control, I give You control
I don't really know what You're doing here
But I give You control
I give You control

I'm wide awake
'Cause I hear You calling my name
After all the things I've been through
Every scar and every bruise
You remind me every time
You're still alive
You're still alive
In me in the beat of my heart
In the light in all of the dark
All my hope will never die
'Cause you're still alive
You're still alive
You're still alive
You're still alive
You're still alive
You're still alive
In me

I stand here in Your presence
I'm safe and secure and I'm never alone

You're still alive
You're still alive
After all the things I've been through
(You keep the fire burning in my heart)
Every scar and every bruise
You remind me every time
You're still alive
You're still alive
In me in the beat of my heart
In the light in all of the dark
All my hope will never die
'Cause you're still alive
You're still alive
You're still alive
You're still alive
You're still alive
You're still alive
In me
